Pentwater
is located in the southwest region of the state, along the shores of Lake Michigan near Silver Lake. It's one of the gems of the area, with miles of pristine, white sandy shoreline that becomes very busy in the summertime when visitors arrive to enjoy the sun, sand, water and fun. Pentwater offers lots of shops, inns, bed and breakfasts, and restaurants, and has lovely tree-lined streets that showcase the town's old Victorian homes, cottages and gardens. Almost everything is within walking distance of the marinas, public beach and village green, where summer band concerts have been a tradition on Thursday evenings for over fifty years. There are a wide variety of recreational activities to enjoy in Pentwater. The Hart-Montague Bicycle Trail runs for 23 miles through picturesque farmland and wooded areas, and hiking, fishing, boating, swimming, golf and tennis are all available in the area. Charter boats can be rented in Pentwater for those who want to try for the big fish out in Lake Michigan, and the Silver Lake State Park Dune Access offers unique thrills for ATV riders. Pentwater is a fun town for families, with lots of special events throughout the year. There's the Annual Pie Contest and Auction on July 3rd, an annual Fine Arts Fair, usually held in July, the Pentwater Fall Festival in late September and Oktoberfest usually held the first week of October.

Pentwater Weather & Climate

Central Michigan , along the shores of Lake Huron, experiences four seasons with warm summers and cold winters. The Great Lakes help cool the hot days of summer and warm the cold winds of winter, giving Michigan a milder climate than some of the other Midwestern and north central states. Summer precipitation comes in the form of showers and thunderstorms. Tornadoes are not that common because Michigan is on the fringe of the Midwest tornado belt, and sees less of this activity than other parts of the country, in part due to the cold water of the surrounding lakes during the spring and summer months. The Great Lakes also act as a giant "heat sink," and is a natural humidifier, and this causes an increase in the moisture content in the air in winter, creating heavier snowfalls in some areas. The amount of snowfall, however, varies greatly from year to year.
