Leroy
is located in Osceola County in the northcentral portion of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Known as a four-season vacation destination, LeRoy is set amid picturesque rolling hills, lakes and rivers and virgin forests. Home to the Razzasque Days celebration in July, LeRoy offers lots of recreational activities for visitors. Choose from swimming, hiking, trout fishing, boating and water skiing to snowmobiling, ice skating, skiing and ice fishing. The town is also situated on the White Pines Rails-to-Trails State Park. Anytime of year is a good time to visit LeRoy, but fall is especially beautiful when the many hardwoods turn to brilliant shades of red and gold. Rose Lake County Park is located just north of LeRoy and offers camping, picnic areas, a sandy beach and docking area for boaters. From May to September, a caretaker lives on the grounds and runs a general store. The Sunrise Lake State Campground is situated southeast of the village and is another great place for the whole family. You can swim, water ski, go fishing, hiking and camping. Snowmobiles and other off-road vehicle trails are also located at Sunrise Lake and on the lakeshore is a nice area designated for day use only, available for picnics or just enjoying the scenery. Osceola County contains the highest point in the Lower Peninsula and also has five rivers running through it - the Muskegon, Hersey, Pine, Middle Branch and Chippewa. The whole area surrounding LeRoy is filled with small town traditions like parades and special Fourth of July celebrations and a County Fair in August.

Northeast Michigan, on the Lower Peninsula, experiences four distinct seasons. During periods of easterly to northeasterly winds, the air moving over Lake Huron gives this region cooler summers and increased snow activity in late fall and early winter. As a result of prevailing westerly winds, the northeast region also experiences additional lake affect. In late winter, ice builds up on the lakes and temperature variations more closely resemble inland Michigan. This area seldom experiences prolonged periods of hot, humid weather in the summer or extreme cold during the winter. Annually, thunderstorms occur on an average of 24 days per year - mainly on summer afternoons. Michigan is located on the northeast fringe of the Midwest tornado belt, but has a lower occurrence of them, in part, as a result of the colder water of Lake Michigan during the spring and early summer months.
